Best Doctors Inc. Turns to Medting Platform to Expand Doctor's Reach
It's happened to a great many people out there, and it likely won't stop happening for some time to come. Someone needs to go to the doctor, but can't due to distance constraints. Sure, in some cases, it's a matter of really obscure specialty matters, but in others, even a general practitioner can be tough to find. Location and economics factor substantially into this equation, but for Best Doctors Inc., the idea of getting the right doctor to the right patient may be as simple as putting cloud technology to use, specifically, its Medting platform.
Best Doctors Inc.'s Medting platform recently helped it land accolades from the Botin Foundation, which offered up 13 “Volunteer Achievement” awards. Selected from among a reported pool of 550 such endeavors, Best Doctors Inc. netted the awards thanks to its ability to bring together telemedicine with collaborations systems and an array of partnerships with several major medical missions operations. This all runs on the back of the Medting system, which allows for not only collaboration, but also the ability to share both image and video files in a fashion that helps doctors work readily together—particularly, it was pointed out, on things like online tumor boards—regardless of issues in scheduling or even in time zone.
Medting users, like Fundacion Recover manager Macrina Camps, have high praise for Medting, and Camps specifically noted improvements in “...the speed and breadth of collaboration...”, offering praise for Medting's ability to “...bring the best medical knowledge to many more doctors and patients.”
Best Doctors Inc.'s chairman and CEO, David Seligman, offered some comment on the organization and its releases, saying “Best Doctors continues to make a tremendous impact on countless lives by ensuring that location or a lack of local resources is not a barrier to world-class medical care. By combining leading technology with the brightest minds in medicine, Best Doctors is in a unique position to provide access and quality that can save lives. We are proud to work with leading foundations who are all on the front lines of providing medical care for those most in need.”
This is an issue that many have encountered on one level or another. Ever had to drive a great length to see, say, a dermatologist over a skin rash or allergy issues? How about to have wisdom teeth extraction performed? For those of us who have had to leave hometowns in a bid to get these procedures done, the issues of telemedicine addressed by Medting and Best Doctors Inc. strikes a familiar chord. But it strikes an entire familiar chorus for those who have had to undertake similar travels to address issues like the flu or having stitches to close up a wound. Improving doctor’s access to other doctors, as well as improving patient’s access to doctors, is the kind of thing that can do little but help in the long term, and help put medicine where it most needs to be.
Medting and Best Doctors Inc. have an excellent position here, and with the growing population and the equally growing prominence of connectivity, it may prove easier than ever to get doctors to where same need to be, and more important than ever to do so as well. Only time will tell just how far the Medting platform can go, but it's a safe bet that there will be demand for it and its competitors in the near future.
