Jibe Builds Support for Turnkey RCS Cloud Video Calling and Messaging Services
Jibe Mobile has started to build momentum for its end-to-end IP platform, which includes support for both the public and private cloud, a communications client, a rich communications services (RCS) hub and a telco-Web gateway.
For instance, Sprint’s (News - Alert) Messaging Plus is powered by Jibe Mobile. It was launched in late 2013 and is now pre-loaded on most new Android-powered smartphones—and also available for iPhone.
Messaging Plus lets Android (News - Alert) and iPhone consumers use a single application to connect with family and friends on any wireless carrier in the United States, Canada and Mexico via text, instant messaging, group messaging and video chat, as well as sharing of photos and videos.
Jibe is looking to support carriers as they launch native over-the-top (OTT) functionality for mobile consumers, including video calling, group chat and large media-file sharing. Its IP Communications Cloud, which supports industry standards including WebRTC, RCS, joyn, uses the private cloud to enable operators with their own RCS service. Meanwhile the public cloud is for subscribers of carriers that have not yet implemented RCS. Jibe’s mobile clients thus can be offered as a download, or they can be preinstalled as a native messaging client by OEMs.
