GFI has been making a major move to migrate its on-premises tools to the cloud in the form of GFI Cloud.
The initial version focused on network monitoring and anti-malware. On the monitoring side, reviewers found they could have the tool fully up and running in ten minutes. The software, still available in packaged form, works essentially the same on-site or in the cloud.
Now there is a big addition to the GFI Cloud suite in the form of Web security. Designed for SMBs, GFI Cloud has multi-faceted Web filtering and monitoring that can stop phishing, malware, spyware and adware, botnets, spam, and proxies. At the same time the filtering can boost productivity, increase available bandwidth, and help track what is really going on in your network.
“With no dedicated server and no proxies to configure, the easy to use Web-based management console allows you to quickly gain control of user Web browsing. By applying Web content filtering policies across 80+ website categories, GFI Cloud helps users stay productive and protects your business from legal liability,” GFI said.
Meanwhile IT can receive real-time reports and alerts that allow it to take immediate action, say in the event a user is visiting a dangerous site, downloading illegal software, or streaming huge media files.
URL filtering is another big feature, which is of special importance as more than 90 percent of hack attacks are due to malicious URLs.
The beauty of the cloud, GFI argues, is that new services can be up and running and protecting the networks in minutes, a case backed by GFI Cloud reviewers.
“Malware is growing more sophisticated by the day, and cybercriminals are targeting users from all directions -- on social media sites, through unpatched software, in search engine results, the list goes on,” said Sergio Galindo, Head of Global Product Management at GFI Software. “The security risks are increasing by the minute, yet SMB IT administrators are faced with the same tight budgets and thin resources. GFI Cloud helps administrators overcome these challenges by providing an affordable, easy-to-use, multi-layered approach to security that can be managed through a single, cloud-based console. The result is comprehensive threat protection at a price-point and level of simplicity that resource-strapped administrators demand. Our solution gives SMB IT admins more confidence in their IT security and business strategies.”
GFI Cloud already came with antivirus software, patch management, remote control, workstation and server monitoring, and asset tracking, all in one cloud service managed by one console.
Cloud Partner Push
GFI has put major muscle behind its Cloud Partner Program in an effort to give more partners GFI Cloud religion.
The program is backed with some ambitious expansion plans, and “will focus each month on a different aspect of the GFI Cloud solution, helping current and prospective partners understand how GFI Cloud can help them grow sales, engage with new customer communities and solve customer challenges that conventional on-premise software may not be an appropriate solution for,” the company said. “The program will focus on areas including patch management, antivirus, network and server monitoring, managing mobile workers, and Web and content filtering.”
