Under Obamacare there is a major HIPAA deadline looming September 23rd of this very year. And healthcare companies and the MSPs that serve them are in danger of being caught off guard.
This week GFI MAX announced plans to its partners help their customers get their arms around HIPAA. The help comes in the form of the new HIPAA readiness pack for GFI MAX MSPs
HIPAA isn’t exactly new, but Obamacare is driving a deadline of September 23 for companies to be in compliance.
“The HIPAA readiness pack illustrates GFI MAX’s continued commitment to making sure that MSPs are equipped to provide their customers with the services they require as business needs evolve and expand. With the HIPAA readiness pack, MAX MSPs will not only be better prepared to continue doing business with current healthcare customers, but also will be better positioned to attract new customers in that field looking for a managed service provider that understands the unique needs of their industry,” GFI said.
The idea is that the MSP can be a trusted advisor of sorts to their healthcare customers.
The readiness pack is so MSPs don’t get caught unawares, but instead can be proactive and help health companies and healthcare associates beat the actual deadline.
Here is what is in the pack, GFI said:
GFI MAX tapped Fabian Oliva, an independent security and compliance analyst, to pen the paper. “These sorts of federal changes are often obscured by confusion and poor communication. By proactively providing customers with an easy-to-use guide, GFI MAX is empowering its customers to meet the deadline with confidence,” Oliva said.
MSPs are just helping clients comply – in many cases the MSP itself has to comply. GFI hopes it can be of help in both cases. “We recognize that MSPs that work with healthcare providers have specific needs that must be met in order to continue doing business under the regulations. Our HIPAA readiness pack, along with the GFI MAX platform, is designed to take the pain out of the process, providing them with the information and tools they need to fulfill their customers’ requirements fully and effectively and allowing them to maintain their focus on the growth of their business and the satisfaction of their customers,” said Dr. Alistair Forbes, General Manager of the GFI MAX business unit.
