GFI Software Debuts an Independent Company for Developing Advanced Security Solutions
By Madhubanti Rudra TMCnet Contributor
GFI Software is all set to launch a new, independent company called ThreatTrack Security Inc. As an independent security technology business unit, ThreatTrack will focus on the company’s VIPRE family of antivirus products and high-end antimalware intelligence solutions, SandBox and ThreatTrack. Julian Waits, currently the general manager of GFI’s security business unit, will assume the role of CEO at the new company.
This strategic separation of security technology business from its core business will allow the company to increase its focus on other areas of business, namely collaboration, IT infrastructure, managed service and cloud services for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). GFI’s IT solution portfolio includes more than 15 advanced products – all which are typically designed for SMBs with fewer than 1,000 users.
Meanwhile, the GFI MAX cloud service is designed for Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and is relied on and used by more than 200,000 companies. Additionally, GFI also offers collaboration, anti-spam, patch management, faxing, mail archiving and Web monitoring services via a global partner network.
In a statement, the company noted that it would continue to serve its existing customers by delivering VIPRE technology via its GFI MAX, GFI MailEssentials and GFI WebMonitor brands.
“The strategic separation of our VIPRE, SandBox and ThreatTrack products creates increased bandwidth and flexibility for GFI to focus on our core market and to deliver enterprise-quality IT solutions to small and medium-sized businesses,” GFI Software CEO Walter Scott explained in a statement.
“As an independent company, we look forward to strengthening our business and providing ongoing support for our existing customers, while being able to respond and react faster in the ever-changing security market. This is a great opportunity for our security business, our customers and our partners,” Julian Waits noted in said statement.
