By Anil Sharma TMCnet Contributor
Qumu, a business video platform provider and a Rimage company, has unveiled its latest product offering, the Qumu Hybrid Cloud Video Communications Solution. This solution is a cloud-based instance of the Qumu Video Control Center, combined with Qumu VideoNet Edge devices to enable quality streaming to audiences inside and outside corporate firewalls from the cloud.
Officials with Qumu said that the solution includes support for mobile devices including Windows Phones, iPhones, iPads, and Android (News - Alert) phones and tablets.
According to company officials, the Qumu solution enables businesses to manage, organize and securely distribute live and on-demand video with the ease and flexibility of a cloud based offering.
Some of the highlights of the Qumu Hybrid Cloud solution include -deployment of the application in the cloud so no corporate infrastructure investment is required; the ability to securely traverse firewalls to acquire and distribute video and related content inside secure networks; federation of public CDNs and VideoNet Edge devices on private networks into a virtual content distribution network that spans the Internet and the corporate Intranet and Broad support for mobile devices for live video, employee generated content, and other uses among other things.
“We started using the Qumu cloud-based Video Control Center combined solution at a time when our company was growing to include employees in multiple countries and time zones, and it was getting increasingly difficult to share information," said Mike Dupuis, marketing communications manager for OSIsoft, in a statement.
"We needed a way to bridge the gap, and Qumu provided a great solution for overall management and sharing of our video assets as well as live video communications," said Dupuis.
"Understanding the operational, technical and economic considerations for the use of cloud based, or partially cloud based, video communications services is becoming a priority in the executive suite," said Ray Hood, senior vice president and general manager of Qumu.
"Since our solution is available as a Cloud-based service, as well as enterprise software or appliances, we offer a lot of flexibility as customers optimize their investments in IT personnel and resources," said Hood.
